Gospel Literature International
(GLINT) is a non-profit organization founded in 1961
by Dr. Henrietta Mears. This noted Christian educator established GLINT to meet the growing
publishing demands for Christian curriculum and books in non-English
languages.
GLINT's president, Dr.
Georgalyn Wilkinson, has faithfully served since 1986. Under her
leadership, GLINT's ministry has grown to promote and
manage the
non-English language book rights for City
Bible Publishing, Growing
Families International, Howard
Publishing, Multnomah Publishers,
and Wagner Publications.
GLINT itself is not a publisher, but instead serves as a
ministry of helps, providing quality international publishers with
biblically sound English language books, and
then assisting them to successfully publish these materials in dozens of
languages around the world.
For the originating English language
publishers GLINT offers essential publishing services including: research
and identification of quality international publishers, promotion of
products to international publishers, contract negotiations, monitoring of
project progress, complete publishing information service management, and
royalty management.
With nearly 40 years of experience working with
international publishers, GLINT now works with over 300 international
publishers. These publishers produce quality publications using competent
translators and dependably meet their production schedules.
Sunday School
One of GLINT's major priorities is providing for
the publishing and distribution of both English language and indigenous
curriculum for children and adults. Where possible, teacher training
is also provided in the overall arena of leadership training.
GLINT's Vision and Guiding Principles
During the last decade, worldwide changes in political
and spiritual realities have revealed deep spiritual hunger in countries
where the Gospel was once banished. As the demand for quality Christian
books expands worldwide, GLINT is broadening its international
representation to include more books than ever before from an increasing
number of English language publishers.
GLINT has worked in over 70 nations around the world,
helping to publish Christian books and Sunday School materials in 56
languages. In the past year alone, GLINT assisted with the publishing of
159 first editions (the first time a specific title is published in a
particular language), for a combined total of over 1,100 books.
GLINT Projects
The demand for materials in non-English languages continues to
accelerate. In many parts of the world, basic books and curriculum that
teach Christian truths and values are simply not available. The lack of
adequate staff training or financial resources can hinder vital and
strategic publishing projects. In these cases, GLINT provides training and
consultation to meet the diverse needs of national publishers: printing
and distribution solutions, computer and data management, and
administration expertise.
In many countries, there simply is no adequate training available to
instruct teachers how to implement systematic children’s curriculum. To
meet this need, GLINT helps to sponsor and provide staff for intensive,
custom designed on-site training seminars. Recently GLINT conducted
training sessions for Filipino and Iranian Sunday School teachers. The
latter, due to political sensitivity, was conducted in a nearby Middle
Eastern country. Our teacher training in Mongolia was incredibly well
accepted by new youthful Christians there.
Some important projects are beyond the financial means of indigenous
local publishers. In these cases, GLINT carefully considers partnering
with a local publisher to help raise the necessary financial resources for
the most urgently needed projects. GLINT has helped to fund book and curriculum
projects in such nations as Belarus, Croatia, Lebanon, Nepal, Myanmar,
Russia, Poland, Hungary, Egypt, and China, among many others.
Through vital publishing and training projects, GLINT continues to
break new ground that promotes the Good News of God’s love throughout
the world.
